It’s All About How You Feel… Right?

Well, it’s about getting better too, but when you have a cold… FEELING good or “better” is the main goal.

I’m just getting over some kind of “crap” or “crud,” whichever you prefer. It’s never anything but uncomfortable.

The only thing you can really do is to try and “ease the symptoms.” You know it sticks around for 7-10 days, but how bad you feel can be altered if you follow my simple steps:

  1. Drink lots of “green tea” (I do and it helps in two ways… powerful antioxidant properties and it loosens any mucos)
  2. Take acidophilus supplements or drink Kefir (I love Kefir even more than yogurt, although eating yogurt is good for you too.)
  3. Get out in the sun if you live somewhere that’s warm enough… if not, then take Vitamin D (Helps your body attack infected cells.)
  4. Exercise as much as you can (Alright, I know you’re saying, “I’m not going to exercise when I feel tired and sick!” That’s OK, but as you are able, start moving more and more. Research shows that exercise “stimulates” the immune system.)
  5. Get enough sleep every night (During the first stage of the cold when it’s keeping you awake, you may want to take an antihistamine/decongestant, but after that, let your body get the sleep on it’s own. Don’t take it any longer then it takes to get you “over the hump.”
  6. Eat foods loaded with Vitamins C and E (Nuts and citrus fruit help support the immune system.)
  7. Eat several teaspoons of honey (Honey is a great source antimicrobial action.) Plus, it coats your throat and gives some nice temporary relief from that sore, scratchy feeling.
  8. Horseradish and wasabi are great at thinning mucus secretions (Eat as much as you can tolerate.)
  9. Garlic is also a good herb to eat (Chew a few garlic cloves to help your body fight the virus)

And if you’re chilled (which you often are with a low grade fever from a cold), take some aspirin, ibuprofen or whatever you prefer to keep the aches at bay for a while, till you feel better.

And my best tip for feeling better during a cold?…

Get some tissue like “Puff’s Plus” because blowing your honker is really rough after using regular tissue. I’m not a stock holder in the company, just a satisfied user with every cold!

Now, go get comfy and feel better!
